The Eagle men compiled a 6-1
record for the tournament and took the Flight B Championship Saturday night with
an 11-7 win over Governor Mifflin. CV’s only loss (15-3) was at the hands of
Calvert Hall (
Leading the Eagles at both ends of
the pool were Andrew Hamilton with 29 goals, 3 assists and 11 steals and Kenny
Milburn with 16 goals, 1 assist and 15 steals. John Kesler added 8 goals, 8
assists and 15 steals. Senior goalie Adam Wenner saved 33 shots and tallied 4
assists and 10 steals.
The Lady Eagles put together a 3-2
record in the Flight B level. The Eagles won their first game of the tournament
in overtime 8-7 over Lawrenceville and won again later that night against Wyoming
Valley West 11-7. Saturday morning featured competition from two tough
opponents as the Eagles suffered back-to-back losses to Upper Arlington (11-6)
and McDowell (in Erie) (10-4). The Lady Eagles got back on track for their
final game of the tournament with a 13-5 win over Wissahickon.
Team-wide contributions on offense
and defense for the Lady Eagles saw a lot of players in the stats book by
tournament end. Mackenzie Ferry netted 9 goals and tallied 3 assists and 7
steals followed closely by Michelle Miller with 8 goals, 4 assists and 10
steals. Hannah Sunday added her 7 goals, 11 assists and 6 steals. Heather
Miller scored 5 goals, had 7 assists and 12 steals. Rounding out the top six
stats totals were Shannon Hillery with 6 goals and 6 steals and Shelly
St.OmerRoy with 4 goals, 2 assists and 12 steals. Senior goalie McKenzie Graf
had 40 saves, 2 assists and 4 steals.
Next up for the Eagles is the
East-West Crossover tournament to be held at the CV natatorium on October
10-11.
